Founded in 2020, the Zavala Family Foundation 501(c)(3) emerged with a mission to extend a helping hand to individuals within the restaurant industry battling cancer, either personally or within their families. Predating Joe’s own battle with cancer, the idea took shape during a backyard barbecue fundraiser. In the spirit of their mission, the Zavala Family Foundation achieved notable milestones, raising $17,500 in 2022 and an impressive $18,500 in 2023 at their annual fundraising event Zavala’s Bash. These funds serve as a testament to the community's generosity and the foundation's commitment to making a positive impact. Whether it's covering medical expenses or offering support to make ends meet, the Zavala Family Foundation continues to extend various forms of assistance to residents in Grand Prairie and beyond. Additionally, 5% of all Zavala’s Barbecue rubs and sauces go to Zavala’s Family Foundation.
